Will You Get an Email Notification If Your Pitch Is Accepted?
If your song is selected for an editorial playlist, Spotify sends an email to the address connected to your Spotify for Artists account. This email typically includes which playlist your song was added to, when the placement goes live, and sometimes additional context about the playlist.
The notification arrives around or after your release date, not before. Even if editors decide to playlist your track during the review period, you won't know until the song goes live.
How Does the Playlists Tab in Spotify for Artists Help?
Once your release is live, check the Music > Playlists tab in Spotify for Artists. This section shows every playlist your tracks appear on, including editorial playlists, user-generated playlists, and algorithmic playlists.
If you see an editorial playlist name (like New Music Friday, Lorem, or a genre-specific playlist with Spotify branding), your pitch worked.
Note: Editors might choose a different track from your release than the one you pitched. If you submitted an album or EP, check all tracks, not just the focus track you pitched.
How Can Stream Pattern Analysis Reveal Playlist Placement?
A sudden spike in streams, especially from listeners in regions where you don't have an established fanbase, often indicates playlist placement. Check your Audience tab for geographic distribution and the Streams section for the source breakdown.
If you see significant streams attributed to editorial playlists or a dramatic increase in "first-time listeners," you've likely been added to something.
What If You Hear Nothing?
No email and no playlist appearance means one of two things: your pitch wasn't selected, or you were added to a smaller editorial playlist you haven't noticed yet.
Spotify doesn't send rejection notifications. The absence of an email is the rejection. This is frustrating but standard across the industry.
What Happens to Your Pitch Chances After Release?
Even if your pitched track doesn't get playlisted immediately, editors continue to monitor new releases. Strong performance metrics (high save rates, low skip rates, repeat plays) can lead to editorial adds weeks after release. The initial pitch isn't your only chance, just your first one.
