Spotify Countdown Pages are in-app pre-release pages for upcoming albums and EPs. When you have access, fans can pre-save inside Spotify, preview the tracklist, and (depending on what you have set up) see Clips and merch modules. For current rules, start here: Getting started with Countdown Pages.

Spotify describes Countdown Pages as available to eligible artists, with eligibility based on release rules and an audience threshold.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements for Countdown Pages?

Spotify’s documented rules change over time. The current requirements include:

  • Release type: only new, original albums or EPs qualify. Singles and re-releases (including deluxe versions and compilations) are not eligible.
  • Artist role: if there are multiple main artists, Spotify notes only the first-named main artist can create the Countdown Page and it appears on that artist’s profile.
  • Access level: Spotify for Artists Admin or Editor role.
  • Audience threshold: Spotify uses an active listener threshold. If you are under it, you may not see Countdown Pages even with an eligible upcoming release.

If you do not see the Countdown Pages option in Spotify for Artists, start by confirming you have an eligible upcoming album or EP delivered and visible in your upcoming releases, then validate the listener threshold.

What Is the DIY Alternative to Spotify Countdown Pages?

You do not need Spotify’s permission to run a high-performing countdown. You can build a stronger one yourself by owning the audience relationship.

Feature Spotify Countdown (Native) DIY Countdown (Dynamoi)
Platform Spotify App Only Email, SMS, & Socials
Ownership Spotify owns the data You own the data (Email list)
Eligibility Eligible releases only Open to Everyone
Cost Free (if eligible) Low (Smart Link cost)

How to Build It:

  1. The Waiting List: Instead of a passive "Pre-Save," use a Smart Link to collect Emails or Phone Numbers (SMS). Call it "The VIP List."
  2. The T-Minus Updates: Send emails at 3 days, 24 hours, and 1 hour before release. This creates the same psychological "Countdown" effect as the native feature.
  3. The Drop: The minute the song goes live, blast the list with the direct Spotify link.

Tip If you do get access to Countdown Pages, publish it early. Spotify recommends making Countdown Pages live at least 7 days before release.
