Video and Playlist Eligibility

Why a YouTube video or playlist can't be used in a YouTube campaign, what content screening checks, and how to fix each message.

Last updated Oct 19, 20265 sections

A video can be promoted in a YouTube campaign when it belongs to the connected channel, is public or unlisted, can be embedded, and passes Dynamoi's content screening. Playlist-based strategies also need a playlist that meets the rules below. The campaign creator checks every video when you add it and shows Checking video eligibility while it runs.

Video requirements

Message Why Fix
This video isn't from your connected channel Campaigns promote only the connected channel's videos Choose a video from that channel, or check Account → Connections
This video is private Private videos can't be promoted Make it public or unlisted
This video is scheduled as a YouTube Premiere Google Ads can't promote a Premiere before it airs Submit it after it becomes public, or change its visibility to public or unlisted
This video is age-restricted on YouTube Age-restricted videos can't be used with Google Ads Choose another video
This video is not embeddable Embedding is turned off for the video Turn on embedding in YouTube Studio, or choose another video
Video not found on YouTube The URL doesn't point to an available video Check the URL

The creator accepts youtube.com and youtu.be links. A playlist-only link needs a specific video: use a watch URL with v=VIDEO_ID, and keep the playlist with &list=LIST_ID.

Content screening

Dynamoi screens each video's content for categories that Google Ads restricts:

  • Illicit Drugs
  • Sexual
  • Violent
  • Firearms & Weapons
  • Profanity
  • Death, Harm & Tragedy

A screening result is one of:

  • Video not eligible: the content was flagged for a category that is not eligible for Google Ads promotion. Choose a different video.
  • Content warning: the content may contain a category that could limit reach. The campaign can still be submitted, but Google may approve it with limited delivery or disapprove it after review.
  • Eligibility review incomplete: Dynamoi couldn't verify the video's spoken content or confirm its eligibility right now. Use Retry eligibility check, try again later, or choose a different video.

Passing screening does not guarantee Google's approval; Google reviews every campaign after submission.

Playlist requirements

Watch Time, Subscribers, Channel Growth, and Revenue need a playlist for each promoted video. Views does not.

  • The playlist must be public and contain the promoted video.
  • It needs at least two back-to-back videos.
  • The video right after the promoted one must be from your connected channel and be public or unlisted.
  • Place the promoted video near the top of the playlist.

The creator looks for playlists on your channel that contain the video. If none appear, add the video to a playlist in YouTube Studio and refresh, or paste a watch URL that already includes &list=. With no playlist at all, select No playlist? Switch to Views.

Temporary errors

Messages such as "YouTube API quota exceeded" or "YouTube service is temporarily unavailable" come from YouTube, not from the video. Wait and try again. "YouTube authentication failed" means the channel connection needs to be reconnected; see Disconnecting and Reconnecting.
